Malikah Shabazz, Daughter of Malcolm X, is Found Dead at 56 of a Suspected Suicide.

It is a sad day for the Shabazz family, and the African-American community, as Malikah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcom X, has been found dead.

Reports say that Shabazz, who was 56, and one of six daughters of Malcolm X and his wife Betty Shabazz, was found by her daughter, Bettih-Bahiyah Shabazz, 23, in the home they shared.

Shabazz had been in the news over the past years but not so much for acts of bravery like her legendary father.

Over the years, she had a number of brushes with the law but was still held in high esteem in her community.

The daughter of fellow civil rights icon, Martin Luther King Jr., Bernice King, tweeted her condolences together with a photo of Malikah and her twin sister Malaak, being held by their mother, Dr. Betty Shabazz.

'I’m deeply saddened by the death of #MalikahShabazz. My heart goes out to her family, the descendants of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X. Dr. Shabazz was pregnant with Malikah and her twin sister, Malaak, when Brother Malcolm was assassinated. Be at peace, Malikah.,' King wrote.

Shabazz never got to meet her father. She, and her twin Malaak, were born seven months after his murder.

Shabazz's death comes just days after two men who had been suspected of shooting her father were exonerated. Although there have been speculations, with some evidence, over the years that the government was behind X's murder, no one has been officially charged with the act.

At this time Malikah Shabazz's death, according to the New York medical examiner, has determined to not be suspicious and is being investigated as a suspected suicide.

Our condolences go out to the Shabazz family.
