Grammy-nominated Opera singer Jubilant Sykes was found dead in his home December 8th and no one, on the outside, could have imagined the suspect.

Sykes, 71, was tragically stabbed to death in his California home. An incident, that police say, was domestic in nature and the suspect posed no threat to the community. The suspect in question, Sykes' own son, was arrested at the home without incident. Authorities say a weapon, presumed to be the one used to murder Sykes, was found at the home.

Micah Sykes, 31, appeared in front of a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, who ordered him held without bail December 11th. At one point during the hearing, Micah reportedly interrupted Deputy District Attorney Cesar Rodriguez, saying, "I don't see my mother here... This person's not telling the truth whatsoever," reports say. Micah has reportedly been ordered to have no contact with his mother, who apparently witnessed the killing.

Other family members say that Micah Sykes has a schizophrenia diagnosis and is not currently on any medication. He is being held on a two million dollar bond.

Jubilant Sykes, a baritone, was nominated for a Grammy for his performance in a 2009 recording of Leonard Bernstein's Mass and went on to perform at leading venues such as the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

The singer, who shares three sons with his wife Cecelia, also collaborated with a wide range of prominent artists, including Julie Andrews, Josh Groban, Carlos Santana and Brian Wilson, his website states.
