This story comes as a shock to the Hollywood community! Just days after Opera singer Jubilant Sykes was stabbed to death by his son, another son has been accused of killing his parents. Actor and director Rob Reiner, along with his wife Michele, were found stabbed to death in their home Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE. Upon arrival, they found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead. Sources confirm the victims were Rob and Michele.
Police say Nick, 32, is alive and being questioned. No arrests have been made.
Nick is a man with a troubled past. In 2016 Nick spoke openly about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states. At the moment, there has been no motive made public and we do not know what let up to these killings.
Rob Reiner first became famous in the 70's on the hit show "All in the Family" produced by Norman Lear. He was married to actress/director Penny Marshall for a time. He made his directorial debut in 1984 w8th, This Is Spinal Tap, then Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992). He met Michele while filming "When Harry Met Sally" in 1989. They married and had three children shortly thereafter.
This is a developing story and we will have more details as they become available.
