Human Remains Found in the Trunk of a Crashed Car in Michigan Identified as Missing Tennessee Woman.

Human remains that were found in the trunk of a crashed car on Sunday have now been identified.

We reported earlier this week that Dearborn Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle that was involved in a missing person investigation on Sunday around 2:05 p.m. near Normile Street and Tireman Avenue.

Through some tricky driving skills the officers lost the suspect vehicle after a pursuit.

Not long after a crash scene was located not far from where the officers lost sight of the vehicle.

Police say, as the officers approached the crashed vehicle there was an exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was found dead with a gunshot wound. An official autopsy report states that the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The passenger of the car was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Upon securing the scene, officers discovered the remains of a body in the trunk of the car. It was suspected at the time that the body could have been that of a missing woman but it had not been confirmed. Until now. Michigan State Police said that Eleni Kassa, 31 (right), was reported missing in Murfreesboro on November 18 and that her cause of death has not yet been determined.

The deceased suspect in her murder has been identified as Dominique Hardwick, 36, of Lebanon, Tennessee.

Authorities have not released the details or the manner in which Kassa died but they do believe that Hardwick was the one who ended her life.

Investigators are still questioning witnesses as well as the passenger who was in the front seat of the car during the chase. This case is ongoing and we will keep you all updated when more details become available.
