Texas Man Caught Setting His Neighbors Houses on Fire and Threatening Officers with a Sword!
A Katy, Texas woman caught a horrific act on camera just a few days ago and prevented her home, and that of her neighbors, from going up in flames.
Police were called out to the Brighton Hollow Lane neighborhood after a resident said she saw her neighbor dousing her home with liquid. Resident Jackie Gray said that she received a notification from her home security system that her house was on fire. When she went to check it out she saw a portion of her home was indeed ablaze.
“You know, I caught him doing it on film – I came out, I confront him about it, he admitted it and then after he thinks that my home was going to burn down -- I was able to contain the fire – he tried to come back, you know, with a sword to attack me," Gray said.
That's right, Gray confronted the man who intentionally set the fire and he attempted to attack her! On the video you can hear Gray ask the man very calmly if he was trying to set her house on fire. Then, when she saw the blaze, she ran back into the home yelling "Oh my God, I got my kid in the house!"
Police were able to arrest Phi-de Dinh Nguyen, 46, but, not without incident. Nguyen attempted to attack officers with his sword but he was tased and subdued. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree felony arson, aggravated assault against a public servant and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Neighbors in the area say that Nguyen was known for his "odd behavior" and that the police had been to his residence before.
Nguyen is being held on a $200,000 bond and has been ordered to undergo several mental health evaluations.
Gray and her neighbors are praying he is unable to post bond.
“I mean, I fear for my life – not only my life, my neighbors’ lives," she said.
If this isn't enough proof that we all pretty much need to have cameras on our property, I don't know what is. We're thankful that no one was hurt during this ordeal.
