LeVar Burton Lands Yet Another Big Gig with Scripps National Spelling Bee!

The wins keep coming for everybody's favorite host, LeVar Burton! After being snubbed as the host to replace Pat Sajak for "Jeopardy", Burton landed a hosting gig with the new revival of "Trivial Pursuit" produced by Hasbro. While "Trivial Pursuit" brews, Burton has brought home some even bigger bacon!

It has been announced that LeVar Burton will host the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee, AP reports. Burton said yes immediately when Scripps approached him about the role. Scripps announced this fall that it had ended its partnership with ESPN, which broadcast the event for 27 years. The upcoming competition will now have a new host and broadcaster for the nearly 100-year-old event.

This comes after the historic 2021 win of Zaila Avant-garde, first African-American to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship since 1998.

We are sure that having Burton host the national spelling competition will be a ratings boost as the "Reading Rainbow" host still has a VERY healthy following.

The bee will instead air on Ion and Bounce—two channels owned by Scripps—on June 1 and 2.
