Jazmine Sullivan Wins Her First TWO Grammys After More Than Ten Years and 15 Nominations!
After thirteen years in the business and fifteen award nominations, singer Jazmine Sullivan has finally bagged her first Grammy award. The "Pick Up Your Feelings" singer won an award for Best R&B Performance in a Grammy pre-show then turned around and won Best R&B Album of the Year for her album "Heaux Tales".
"Heaux Tales" beat out Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies" - Snoh Aalegra, "We Are" - Jon Batiste, "Gold-Diggers Sound" - Leon Bridges and "Back Of My Mind" - H.E.R.
Once in the press room Sullivan told us that she had given up on winning a Grammy after being nominated fifteen times and never winning. "I had" resolved "to just making music for me and my people, for my fans," she said "I never thought I'd hold these babies" she remarked looking down at the two statues in her arms.
We're proud of Jazmine Sullivan. This was a well deserved win!
