Indiana Teen Who Murdered His Family Was Aspiring Rapper Who Brandished a Gun in His Music Video.
The more details that become available in this case, the more heartbreaking it gets. Just a few days ago we reported that an Indianapolis teenager allegedly shot and killed 6 members of his family.
In the beginning, there were mixed reports saying an injured teen was the culprit but, as more details became available, we learned that the injured teen actually was the suspects 15-year-old brother who got away. That young boy was able to give police a clear account of what happened on the night his brother killed their parents and four others in the home, including an unborn baby.
The 15-year-old boy said that their father had confronted the 17-year-old son about going out late at night. and the son was told the issue would be resolved later, but that the teen disagreed.
It was then, the boy said, that while he was downstairs in the home with his parents, they heard gunfire upstairs and his sister yelling, “He shot them,” followed by the sound of more gunshots.
The suspect shot his parents, Kezzie and Raymond Childs, both 42. first then turned his rage on his little sister, Rita, 13, and his older brother Elijah Childs, 19, and Elijah Childs’ pregnant girlfriend, Kiara Hawkins, 19, killing them all. The shooter then came downstairs and fired at the 15-year-old brother who fled the home and sought help a block away.
The 17-year-old was an aspiring rapper who rapped about violence in his songs and, a local pastor believes that the violent acts that he rapped about, were the catalyst to him gunning down his family. The boy raps about "shooting" someone and "taking two to the head" all while brandishing an assault rifle. A rifle that authorities believe may have been the murder weapon.
There are absolutely no words to explain how saddening this is. Six people lost their lives and one child lost his entire family just because one child wouldn't accept "No" for an answer. What has happened to this country where, saying "No" to someone often becomes deadly?
A GoFundMe has been organized to help the Childs family with the astronomical expenses of burying their family members.
UPDATE:
The suspect has been identified as Raymond Childs III.
Childs is being charged with six murder charges. Due to his age, the death penalty is not an option but, life without parole is.
We will keep you updated as more details become available.
