Big Changes Coming to Showtime's "The Chi" and Everybody's Favorite Vegan, Tabitha Brown, Joins In!

I must admit, watching Showtime's "The Chi" is a newfound guilty pleasure and now, I've got another good reason to stay tuned! Our favorite vegan influencer, actress and Auntie, Tabitha Brown, has joined the cast.

Not familiar with "The Chi"? Where have you been?

"The Chi" was created and executive produced by award winning director Lena Waithe and executive produced by Common (Selma), The Chi is a timely coming-of-age story revolving around a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption.

Let's talk about some other series changes before we get to Brown. If you've watched the hit series then you're familiar with Curtiss Cook's character, Douda, who is part city official, part crime boss, and all fine! Cook started off on the series just doing recurring role work but, he's now been promoted to series regular in the upcoming season. Tabitha Brown (who acted in the Princess of the Row) and Jason Weaver (from Smart Guy, ATL) are joining the upcoming fourth season of the Showtime drama.

According to Deadline:

Brown will play Octavia,a successful interior designer who fortuitously crosses paths with Kiesha (Birgundi Baker). Weaver, a Chicago native, will portray Rahsaad “Shaad” Marshall, an old friend of Trig’s (Luke James) who is struggling to rebuild his life.

Season 4 cast also includes Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr. and Michael V. Epps.

In addition to Waithe, Common and writer Justin Hillian, the hit drama series also is executive produced by Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment, Derek Dudley and Shelby Stone of Freedom Road Productions and Rick Famuyiwa.. The Chi is produced by Touchstone Television.

This show has tackled everything from drugs, abduction, gay marriage, corrupt preachers and, of course, political drama within the city and we can't wait to see what seasonings Tab has in her bag for this role. Tabitha Brown has been a social media influencer for a number of years and, if you're not familiar with her, you should get familiar. This wife and mother set out to be an actress and ended up becoming everyone's favorite vegan cook. We love her and so do millions of her social media followers!
