Henry Betsey Jr. managed to pull a fast one on three unsuspecting women and the entire state of Florida! Reports say that Betsey, 50, was busted for bigamy earlier this year but received his final sentencing just today.
His wives all say that they met Betsey through an online dating site. "He said all of the right things" one of them stated. Evidently, he did if he was able to smooth talk his way all the way to the courthouse in three different counties with each of the three women. Betsey's dating profile boasted the following sentence in his bio: “Looking for a beautiful woman who understands the ups and downs of life, is trustworthy and no games." Crazy how the main ones declaring that they want someone who doesn't play games are even bigger game makers than those who created The Hunger Games!
Betsey scaped detection because the counties in which he married the women did not have a system in place where their records would cross reference.
“He sold the perfect person, when in reality, he was none of those things,” said wife Tonya Betsey, who unraveled her husband’s deceptive plot when she began searching his name in county databases across the state, revealing he was still married to two other women: Michele Betsey and Brandy Betsey.
Betsey began his love train in November of 2020 when he married Tonya after meeting her on Tinder. He continued making stops marrying Brandy in February 2022 after they met on Stir, and then tied a third knot with Michele in November 2022, three weeks after they met on Match.com,
Betsey addressed his wives during his sentencing saying “I want to apologize to the ladies and I want to apologize to the court administration and to my family and friends that had to be involved in this, because ultimately this is something that I didn’t wish to be part of." As for his wives, they didn't buy the apology and they believe that he'll do this again to another batch of unsuspecting women.
The judge sentenced him to two years probation, meaning Betsey avoids jail time but is still logged as a convicted felon. He was released from jail shortly after his sentencing. He was also ordered to steer clear of social media and to not have any contact with either of his wives.
We wonder how long they're going to hold out though. Betsey the Bigamist just might want to continue his shenanigans but, he'll have a harder time with it since this case blew up and got national attention,
Still no word on whether either of the three wives has actually divorced him yet. We'll see.
