14-Day-Old "Dark Skinned" Baby Girl Found Dead Off of Florida's Coast.

An off-duty Florida firefighter was boating last Friday when he saw what appeared to be a doll in the water. Upon closer inspection, he realized that what he was actually seeing was the body of a newborn baby girl.

Via Local10:

"Deputies have released a sketch of a baby girl whose body was found floating in the ocean near the Boynton Beach Inlet.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on Monday released an artist's rendering of what the baby may have looked like at birth.

"We've actually tried our best to rule out nationalities, but we can't narrow down what race it might be," Capt. Steven Strivelli said Monday at a news conference.

Investigators said the naked infant was found on the Atlantic Ocean side of the inlet Friday by an off-duty firefighter who was boating in the area. The body was found 75 to 100 feet east of the shoreline near Boynton Beach Inlet Park.

Residents of Boynton Beach and beyond have been rocked by the news.

"It's baffling. There’s a mother. There’s a family. There’s someone out there who knows who this child is and they need to come forward," Sonja Wade, who lives nearby, said.

Investigators said the baby was no more than 14 days old.

"We don't know exactly how long the child was in the water," Strivelli said. "I have some ideas, but I don’t want to put that info out there."

Detectives are asking for the community's help trying to identify the girl or her parents.

"It's gut-wrenching, and we hate seeing it and we really, desperately want to get to the bottom of what happened," Strivelli said. "

Due to the location of the baby's body it is presumed that she could have literally come from anywhere! There are dozens of access points and the area is known to be a frequent spot for illegal immigrant entry.

At this time, no other information is available about the baby or where she could have possibly come from but the authorities are seeking answers.

This is truly one of the saddest stories that we've ever had to report. . .
