It Goes Down on Claws!

Many of you have seen the trailers and internet buzz surrounding the new drama on TNT entitled "Claws". I've seen it, dismissed it and set it on the back burner pending review. As it happens, I was looking for something to watch last night around 8:53pm and noticed that "Claws" was premiering at 9pm. I said to myself "eh, let's check out the hype" and tuned in. . . Listen, I was NOT READY!!

This show was so stinking good that I had to question my loyalty to other shows. The first one hour premiere was better than the whole season 5 of "Orange is the New Black" and y'all know I LOVE that show!

Via TNT:

"Claws is a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness set in a South Florida nail salon. It follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures. Claws is about good women caught in bad places with worse men. It's the story of hardworking women trying to get by in this economy, set against the surreal, bright, gritty landscape of Florida and the luscious, absurd, extreme excesses of the crime world."

Niecy Nash and Karrueche Tran headline the cast of characters in a storyline that blends "Steel Magnolias", "Player's Club", "Barbershop" and "Power" into a surprisingly good show! Niecy Nash plays Desna, the shop owner and lead character, who is a strong, independent, drug running businesswoman who somehow balances her shop, her money (please don't mess with her money) and an emotionally taxing home life. Karrueche is every single girl from the hood who wants to sleep her way to the top no matter who the man belongs to. These ladies, who are NOTHING like the women they portray, both embody these characters in ways that are so believable it's frightening.

"Claws" also stars Dean Norris, Judy Reyes, and Harold Perrineau. This show, full of powerful women characters, has sex (of course), drugs, cat fights, dead bodies and cute nail art! I liked the show so much that I'm going to be recapping it every week because I've GOT to keep up with the drama that's going on in this shop! Check out the trailer below and let me know if you watched it and what you think of this show!
