Previously Missing New Jersey Woman, Destiny Owens, Arrested then Escapes Custody.

After missing for more than two months, a New Jersey woman has been found and gone missing once again.

Early in January we reported that Destiny Owens and her girlfriend Imani Glover had bee reported missing. The pair hadn't been seen since days before Christmas 2022 and an official report was filed on Christmas Eve. Glover had been in contact, via text message, with her mother but those communications ended strangely just before the beginning of the year. “The last time I had a conversation with Imani was Dec. 31. I said, ‘Is anything going on?’ I said, ‘Where are you?’ And she said, ‘Mommy, I’m alright. I just want to say I love you and happy New Year,'” said Shantia Glover.

Glover was found safely earlier this month and Owens was recovered just a few days ago. One would think that them being located would have been the end of the story but, it doesn't end there.

Police in East Orange spotted Owens, who has several outstanding warrants, on South Maple Avenue around 1:10 p.m., a city spokesperson said. She was taken into custody.

Owens was brought to a hospital for a medical evaluation, authorities said. She escaped from the hospital while in police custody. Officers are actively looking for her once again.

She’s about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, officials said. Owens weighs around 130 pounds.

Officials have not specified what charges Owens faces. The outstanding warrants that she is facing are out of both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

At this time, Owens’ welfare is a priority and EOPD is asking for the public’s help in her healthy and safe return. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call EOPD at 973.266.5030.
