"My Son Killed My Roommate" Parent Declares to Police When They Find Elderly Man Dead at Their Home.
A Pennsylvania parent made a horribly tough call to the police a few days ago that ended with their son in jail!
The Manheim Township Police Department received a nondescript call concerning an "accident" Monday morning. Sometime around 6:30 a.m. police arrived at a home in the 1000 block of North Duke Street where they found a man dead in a garage apartment.
Several witness at the home told police their stories but one, stood out from the rest. A person at the residence told police "My son killed my roommate."
According to the other witnesses there had been a group of them hanging out in the victim's garage appartment. The victim, identified as 68-year-old Michael Pfender, said something that the suspect found offensive. They had no idea that the statement had ignited a flame in the suspect. Actually, witnesses said they thought the situation was over and everyone went their separate ways in the home. Around 3:15am one of the roommates in the home got online to play a video game with the suspect, now known as 18-year-old Brian Deante Gray. The pair played for about 45 minutes when the witness says that Gray abruptly said he "needed to go", left the game and never returned to the online platform.
According to court records:
Around 4 a.m. Monday, an agitated Gray knocked on one of the roommates’ doors. Pfender was not breathing, Gray said. He told another roommate, “I killed Mike,” according to court documents.
One of the roommates went out to the garage and found Pfender’s lifeless body. In a 911 call, a roommate told dispatchers Gray “snapped out” and killed Pfender, the affidavit said. The roommate identified Gray as their son in the 911 call, but it is unclear if they are Gray’s mother or father.
The roommates argued with Gray, telling him they had to do the right thing and call the police. Court documents said Gray proposed “farfetched ideas” like disposing of Pfender’s body, instead.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office found Pfender suffered blunt force trauma to his head and face. Court documents said Pfender had a defensive wound on his hand.
While turning himself in around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Gray reportedly told police, “I [expletive] up.”
Gray is charged with criminal homicide. He remains behind bars.
