More Details Surface in the Case of Briana Johnson, Houston Woman Found Dead in a Trunk.

A high speed police chase in Beaumont, Texas ended with the driver crashing and police finding the body of a woman in his trunk. Victor Charles Campbell, 35, was mildly injured when he tried to evade police and crashed into a concrete barrier. When the police arrested him and subsequently searched his car, they found the body of 28-year-old Briana Teirra Johnson in his trunk.

The chase started around 8am Saturday morning when police got a call of an erratic driver. When they attempted to stop Campbell he took off, leading them on a chase through Beaumont.

Campbell was taken to a hospital for evaluation then transported to Jefferson County jail while Johnson's body was taken to the coroner to determine her cause of death. Police found evidence during the search of Campbell's car that led them to Johnson's residence that she shared with a roommate. Her roommate spoke briefly with the police but asked that they speak with Johnson's family for more information concerning her.

According to authorities Campbell and Johnson were acquaintances and were possibly dating, "but unknown if they were in a relationship or just friends."

Campbell faces charges for felony evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

There is still no word on how Johnson died or why Campbell had her body in his car.
