Long Island Police Called to the Scene of a Backyard Fire Find a Burning Body!
Police Officers were called to a Long Island neighborhood early this morning on reports of a backyard on fire. Official reports say that around 2:30am a neighbor called in an emergency call to 911 reporting a fire at a home. When the first responders showed up to the home at 27 Mastic Boulevard West they found a roaring fire in the backyard but, the fire wasn't set to a structure or to a barrel of trash. After closer inspection, they discovered the fire had been set to a dead body.
The officers were able to extinguish the blaze and recover the remains. The body was then taken by the coroner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Twenty-year-old Peter Pendzinski, a resident of the home, is facing second-degree murder charges. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and will be arraigned at a later date.
At this time the body has not been identified by the police department but the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office believes that the deceased is a man.
