Kentucky Police Find the Body of 10-Year-Old Boy in the Trunk of His Mother's Car.
Police in Louisville, Kentucky serving an arrest warrant found more than their bounty last night.
According to reports police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Algonquin Parkway on reports of a person with a gun and a possible dead body.
When officers arrived, they found 28-year-old Kaitlyn Higgins on the porch and what they believed to be blood on the front steps.
The report states that the officers believed that something was seriously wrong, prompting them to open the trunk of a vehicle that Higgins said was hers — which is where they found the 10-year-old boy dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to officers, Higgins gave a post-Mirandized statement to detectives admitting she attempted to cut the victim's tongue out of his mouth and shooting him, then placing him in the trunk of her car.
At this moment authorities have not released any possible motive for the boy's murder and no psychiatric evaluation has been made public.
Higgins is in custody charged with murder-domestic violence and tampering with physical evidence.
Her bond is set at $250,000 and she is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
LMPD confirmed Higgins also has a 2-year-old child, and they are safe and in the care of relatives.
