An 18-year-old New Jersey woman was arrested yesterday after authorities say they found evidence that she sexually assaulted a child. According to the Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Mourissa McCarthy, of Clinton, New Jersey, was arrested Saturday February 27, following an investigation by the Passaic County Special Victim's Unit.
Prosecutor’s Office responded to a residence in Clifton, New Jersey, on a report of a six-year-old child being sexually abused. After the initial report, Prosecutor’s Office Detectives interviewed witnesses and obtained a video depicting the incident, which took place at a residence in Clifton, in the presence of a five-year-old child
McCarthy was taken into custody and is being charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree sexual assault, and
third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
According to a press release from Passaic County the penalty for those crimes range from three to twenty-five years in prison.
