Indiana Mother Arrested After She Allegedly Murdered Her 3-Year-Old Son and 1-Year-Old Daughter.

A Mitchell, Indiana mother has been arrested, and is behind bars, after she allegedly killed her two small children.

Mitchell authorities were called to a home near the intersection of 13th and Brook shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday after they received a concerning call about the children.

When they arrived to the home, in the 1200 block of Brook Street, they found the bodies of a 3-year-old male child and a 1-year-old female child.

The children's mother, identified as 33-year-old Brittany Medina, was presumed to be responsible for the children's deaths and was arrested.

The children's bodies were recovered from the home by the Lawrence County Coroner's Office and transported to nearby Bedford County for autopsies. At this time, there is no further information on the circumstances surrounding the children's death.

The children, identified as Maddy and Jackson, by neighbors who held a vigil for them, were adored by all who knew them. “They were just precious, precious angels,” described grandmother Denise McCormick. “They were just babies. The little one-year-old had a beautiful smile on her face all the time. She was never angry. They were babies.”

Medina was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where she will remain until she faces the courts. She has been charged with two counts of murder.
