Chicago Mom Gets into an Altercation with a Man in a Fast Food Spot. Tell Son to Shoot Him. He Dies!

Just days ago a Chicago mother and son entered a restaurant to pick up some food for the evening. Neither of them knew that would be the last normal outing that they'd have.

On Wednesday Chicago police were called to a restaurant for an argument that led to an altercation and a shooting. The restaurant located at Maxwell Street Express at 11656 S. Halsted St. sits in the middle of a neighborhood that residents say is full of crime, even when you're doing right and not involved in any criminal activities, there's still a chance you'll be a victim. The mother, identified as 35-year-old Carlishia Hood entered the restaurant while her 14-year-old son waited in the car. Shortly after Hood got into an argument with another customer and things quickly went left.

A video of the incident, captured by a witness, was posted to social media and shows the end of the argument where the deceased told Hood "get yo food and leave" before threatening to knock her out if she kept talking to him. Hood, still trying to plead her case, was then struck in the face with a closed fist. The man repeated his threat before hitting her again. That's when a pop can be heard before the video cuts short.

The man allegedly ran away and Hood's son fired another shot. Police said the 32-year-old man, who the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified as Jeremy A. Brown.

There were a number of people waiting in line at the restaurant who had backed away from the two, fearing the worst. Brown’s girlfriend was laughing and encouraging Brown during the argument, according to prosecutors.

According to prosecutors on the case, Hood texted her son and had him come to the restaurant as the argument turned physical. Brown punched Hood in the head and Hood’s son took out a gun and shot Brown in the back, they said.

NBC5 Chicago reports that Brown ran from the store as Hood’s son allegedly continued to fire at him. The teen and his mother followed Brown into the parking lot, where she told her son to keep shooting Brown and to kill him, prosecutors said.

When the teen stopped shooting, his mother allegedly told him to shoot Brown’s girlfriend and then tried to take the gun from her son. The teen pushed his mother away and both left in a car and drove home together, prosecutors said.

Brown was transported to a local hospital where he later was pronounced dead.

There is a lot going on and a lot wrong with what happened here.

Both Hood and her son turned themselves in and were arrested on Wednesday.

Hood and the boy have no reported criminal background. They were placed into custody and charged accordingly.

Regardless of who's right and who's wrong, one thing is clear, a man is dead and a child is caught in the middle of an adult argument. Yes, we understand the child wanting to defend his mother but, the actions and instructions of his mother seem a little much. And no, we're not condoning Brown hitting Hood AT ALL. He was wrong too.

The teen faces a first-degree murder charge, and Carlishia Hood faces a first-degree murder charge and a felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
