BounceTV Brotherhood Dramedy "Johnson" Heading for an Enlightening Premiere of its Fourth Season.

Have you ever wanted to watch a show full of fine men who actually are great friends and professionals? Then you need to catch the return of “Johnson,” Bounce TV’s popular dramedy focusing on four best friends who happen to share the same last name,

“Johnson” is a journey of love, self-discovery, and brotherhood, touching on hot-button topics including race, mental health, classism and the ever-evolving relationship dynamics between men and women -- themes that will continue to be prominent in the new season ahead.

"Johnson" is produced in partnership with Eric C. Rhone and Cedric The Entertainer's A Bird & A Bear

Entertainment, as well as Deji LaRay (the shows creator) and Thomas Q. Jones' Midnight Train Productions. The ensemble cast is led by Jones ("P. Valley", "Luke Cage"), LaRay ("Bosch", "Greenleaf"), Philip Smithey ("Murderville, "The Rookie") and Derrex Brady ("NCIS", "First") with D.L. Hughley (The Original Kings of Comedy, The Hughleys).

Deji Ray

LaRay and Jones serve as showrunners and executive producers; Rhone, Cedric The Entertainer and Reesha L. Archibald serve as executive producers.

We recently got a chance to catch up with the cast of the show and asked about the action behind the scenes as well as on screen. Creator, Deji Ray says he knew there was an audience for this show and hoped that it would be an opportunity to fill a void in the world of content consumption. "It was a belief early on" that the show would be a hit "this is a show that everyone can relate to." He continued saying that "The concepts of the show are universal and they touch everybody. I think that's why people from so many backgrounds can gravitate to and connect with the show because it is open and universal. . . regardless of where you come from."

Ray says that there was an appetite for this type of show, that appealed to everyone, no matter their sexual orientation or ethnicity and that has proven to be true. The series has high ratings and has consistently been rated a 9+ out of 10 by viewers since its debut in 2021.

Thomas Q. Jones

Omar Johnson, played by former football player Thomas Q. Jones, finds himself getting to the bottom of some really personal trauma while in therapy this season. Jones says that he has encouraged his friends to seek therapy in real life. "So many things in the Black community are taboo and our mental health is one." he said "I'm proud to portray a character who in in therapy." Jones admits to first seeking therapy when he left the NFL and first got into acting to help him with his characters. "Therapy is very important" he concluded. Ray intentionally wanted to show that his characters were committed to improving themselves as well as their relationships and that is why taking care of their mental health has always been shown in a positive light.

If you haven't caught up on the last three seasons of "Johnson", you need to check out the official website to see where you can catch past episodes. There's nothing more refreshing to the soul, and the eyes, than seeing Black men caring for each other and working on their healing!
