Police in Columbus, Ohio are investigating the death of a person found behind a dumpster at a Hilltop apartment complex this morning. Shortly before 9am, February 3, the Columbus Police Department got a call of a person wrapped in a mattress behind a complex dumpster.
When local police arrived on the scene on Briggs Road near Wedgewood Drive they found a person, wrapped up in a folded over mattress unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel were also called to the scene to access the person's condition. The person, who has not been positively identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:03am.
At this time, and due to the undisclosed physical state of the body, the police are investigating this person's death as a homicide.
We don't know why, or how, this person died but it's always sad when someone loses their life and their killer discards their remains like they were worth nothing. Our prayers are definitely with this victim's family who now have to come to terms with their death.

Columbus police have disclosed that the body is that of a man. No further identification has been released pending the notification of the victim's family. Originally they were not releasing the victim's cause of death but they are now stating that he suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
His death is the 23rd homicide in Columbus in 2021.
