Babysitter Arrested After Throwing a Badly Burned Baby in a Dumpster and Attacking the Child's M

This world is proving itself more and more to be an evil place.

24-year-old Andiana Griciel Velez of Hamden, Connecticut has been charged with risk of injury to a child, second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment after allegedly throwing a baby in a dumpster.

Reports say that Velez got into an altercation with a 21-year-old mother while Velez was babysitting her child. Velez assaulted the mother then threw the 8-month-old baby girl in a dumpster.

Officers responded to the Presidential Village Apartments at 573 Dixwell Ave. around 2 p.m. The baby was found by maintenance workers outside of the apartment building.

The baby was alive and alert but has sustained horrible burns to both of her hands. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital where, at last check, she was in stable condition.

“It's scary, you know, thinking what type of person would do something like that. It's hard to believe someone would do that," said Perry Dennis, one of the workers who found the baby.

While detectives determined that Velez put the baby in the dumpster, investigators have not yet determined who is responsible for the child’s injuries.

Velez is being held on $500,000 bond and is due back in court on Oct. 30.

We don't know what's going on with the world but there seems to be a huge uptick in crimes against children and pregnant women. For this woman to throw a helpless baby in the trash is just sick.
