Body of Missing Pregnant Woman Found. Ex-Boyfriend Arrested.
The search for a missing Parkland woman has come to an end. 33-year-old Kassandra Candrell was last seen on August 25 leaving her home on a neighbors ring doorbell camera. Cantrell was excited to be expecting her first child and had just met with her best friend the day before to show off her ultrasound photos. Cantrell's mother, Marie Smith, with whom she lived, said that there was no way her daughter would just disappear.
Smith's fears increased when Cantrell's car was found in a part of the city that she says her daughter would "never go".
We reported that he ex-boyfriend's residence had been searched in connection to her disappearance but he had not been arrested at that time. However, that has all changed.
Cantrell's body was found Tuesday over a cliff near University Place. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said detectives conducted a detailed ground search near Chambers Creek Road West in University Place. At about 2 p.m., detectives found human remains wrapped and disposed of over a steep hillside along Chambers Creek.
The location was chosen based on data retrieved from the suspects vehicle that placed him near the site. Cantrell's ex-boyfriend, only identified as a 37-year-old Tacoma resident, was arrested shortly after her remains were recovered. He is being charged with murder.
We're noticing an influx of cases where pregnant women are being killed by the child's father and it's unsettling to say the least. At this point we're asking every woman to be cautious when dealing with a man who doesn't want children. Don't meet up with him alone to discuss co-parenting like Keierra McNeil, don't let him keep you sequestered away from your family like Klowie Moore. Please, get help if you need it either by calling your local support groups or by clicking here.
