A Kenosha, Wisconsin man is fighting for his life this morning after being shot more than half a dozen time by the police. The unprovoked shooting was caught by a witness on cellphone video that has the public seeing red! The victim, identified as Jacob "Jake" Blake, 29, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
CBS 58 reports that "the shooting happened on Sunday near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident.
"Graphic video of the shooting circulated social media. It shows Blake walking away from police and getting into an SUV. One officer is seen holding Blake's shirt, and then seven gunshots can be heard.
According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers provided immediate aid to the man after the shooting. He was transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee in serious condition."
The civil-rights attorney Ben Crump said Blake's three sons were in the car when the shots were fired.
"They saw a cop shoot their father. They will be traumatized forever," Crump said. "We cannot let officers violate their duty to PROTECT us. Our kids deserve better!!"
Protests began at the scene of the shooting and moved to outside the police station on Sunday night, WTMJ-TV reported, adding that some fires were set in dumpsters and in a nearby car lot.
Public outrage and rioting has erupted in the city following the shooting leaving businesses devastated.
Blake's family has urged the public to protest peacefully to no avail. The city is set to have a scheduled lockdown and curfew issued shortly.
There is no word yet on what disciplinary actions, if any, will be taken against the officer who pulled the trigger.
Right now, just pray that Jacob Blake recovers and lives to raise his children.
