Some people are just evil and this, this is a family of them. The Orange County Sheriff's department arrested three family members yesterday after the were connected to the death of a 27-year-old woman who had cerebral palsy.
Reports say that a Valencia College security guard discovered the body of Gladys Ambert at 8 a.m. on April 7 beneath a pink blanket near a wooded area on Valencia College Lane.
Ambert, who was deaf, mute and had the mental capacity of a 5-year-old, had been abandoned by her birth parents due to her condition and was raised by her grandmother in New York. When her grandmother passed away last July, Ambert was relocated to live with her aunt and cousins in Orange County.
Detectives working the case say Ambert was physically abused from the month of October until the day she died. Ambert had been bound and beaten then forced to urinate and defecate on herself daily. It is presumed that the family kept Ambert for her $700 a month social security check and did not provide her with ANY care.
Ambert was reported missing by a family member and found dead on what would have been her 27th birthday.
The victim’s aunt, Nellie Ambert, 55, was arrested on charges of first-degree murder among other charges.
Her children were also arrested: Jasmine Ambert, 32, was charged with abuse and neglect of a disabled person; and Christian Matias,18, was charged with tampering with evidence.
“She endured sheer horror in the last months of her short life,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet.
This is absolutely horrific! Listen, we get it. Caring for ANYONE with special needs takes a lot of skill and patience BUT, if you can't provide it. Let someone else take over. There are facilities who could have taken better care of this poor woman. Yeah, we know that not all facilities are safe HOWEVER, plenty of them are better than this house of horrors that she was living in.
We hope these people get the maximum sentence!
