Ohio Boy Missing For Nearly a Month Found Lodged Inside Vacant Home's Chimney!

14-year-old Harley Dilly left his Port Clinton, Ohio home for school on December 20, 2019 and was never seen again. The entire city launched an extensive search party Dilly but nothing turned up until yesterday.

Dilly's body was found in a home right across from the house he shared with his parents.

"Dilly’s coat and glasses were found on the second floor of the home. He was found inside a chimney in the home.

“It appears that Harley climbed an antenna tower to the roof and entered the chimney,” the police chief said.

A cause of death hasn’t been determined yet, but an autopsy will be completed."

His personal items appeared to be pushed through a flue on the second floor however a blockage between the first and second levels 'trapped Harley'.

Authorities used a drone to look inside the chimney and 'were seen removing a portion of the home's wall,' the Beacon Journal reports.

A sledgehammer and bags of evidence were taken out and a coroner was on the scene for seven hours.

'The house had previously been checked multiple times … We had no reason to believe anyone was in the house,' Police Chief Robert Hickman explained about why it took so long to find the child. 'This is not the outcome anyone wanted.'

The house in Port Clinton, east of Cleveland, is owned by another family and had a lock box and deadbolt.

'There is no evidence of forced entry. There was a lock box, doors were secured,' the police chief said in the news conference Tuesday. 'Since there is a lockbox and anyone can go in and out of the house, we went inside to check the house.

We'll never know exactly why Harley climbed into the chimney that day but we do know that his family is suffering with this devastating loss and they are in our prayers.
