New Details: Jussie Smollett Still Had the Rope Around His Neck When Cops Arrived 40 Minutes After t
A woman who lives in the same building says that on the night of the attack, around 12:30am, she went outside of the building to walk her dogs. The unidentified woman says that she saw a white man who appeared to be agitated and looked "out of place". He was standing near the doorway to the building and another man loitering, about 300 feet away, at another entrance. The two men gave her a really bad vibe so she dropped the idea of letting the dogs finish their business and went back inside but, not before she got a really good look at one of them.
TMZ reports that one person of interest had on "a blue winter beanie, a blue zip-up sweatshirt with a hood and blue jeans that were too short, exposing 'thick, grey hunting socks' with camel-colored dress shoes.
She says she noticed what looked like a rope, or a clothesline, protruding from the bottom of his sweatshirt, made of white and blue material."
Surveillance footage from that night does show two people walking together outside of the building but does not show the attack. The footage from inside the building shows Smollett returning home with the rope still around his neck. It remained there until the police arrived 40 minutes after a friend of Smollett's called to report the attack. It is still unclear why there was a delay in reporting the incident.
The next morning when the witness exited her apartment to go to the gym she noticed a heavy police presence and inquired with a concierge what had transpired. After hearing about the attack on Smollett she shared with the concierge what she saw and he told her to contact the leading detectives.
