Issa Rae is at it Again! New Limited Series "The Dolls" in the Works with HBO!
It's no secret that we all look up to Issa Rae. The way she took a YouTube webseries and flipped it into being one of the hottest shows on cable TV has been nothing short of a lesson in persistence, Black Girl Magic and miracles! Now, our girl is at it again and this time, she teamed up with Hollywood's own Laura Dern.
Variety broke the story first saying that "The Dolls" was "inspired by true events, the series recounts the aftermath of Christmas Eve riots in two small Arkansas towns in 1983, riots which erupted over Cabbage Patch Dolls. The series explores class, race, privilege and what it takes to be a “good mother.”
Rae will serve as a writer and executive producer on the series in addition to starring, with Dern also executive producing. Laura Kittrell and Amy Aniobi will also serve as writers and co-executive producers. Jayme Lemons of Dern’s Jaywalker Pictures and Deniese Davis of Issa Rae Productions will also executive produce."
Ok then Issa!
There's no word yet on when the series will officially air but we're already anticipating greatness!
