Here We Go with the Foolishness! Black Children Removed from School Over Their Hair.

It's the beginning of another school year and while most children are having fun, meeting up with friends after the summer vacation or having anxiety about boys or girl, African American students are facing a different type of anxiety.

"Will I be kicked out over my hair?"

The most recent case came about just yesterday when a young girl was asked to leave on the first day of school because her hairstyle was deemed "unnatural". According to Activist Shaun King "this happened at Christ the King Middle School in Gretna, Louisiana. She was expelled because they said her hair style was 'unnatural' they claimed they made a rule in the summer of 2018 to prohibit this hairstyle. After humiliating this young lady in school they now admit that this hairstyle doesn’t violate any rule in their handbook."

He went on to say:

"She was humiliated and removed from the school over it. And they call themselves Christians - as a young girl cries because she’s being removed from her school. This is the new Jim Crow. Let's be clear - this is Christianity as White Supremacy. We can tell that from the little white European statue of Virgin Mary in the background. That woman was a Palestinian refugee who hid in EGYPT. You hide in Egypt when you look like an Egyptian. That statue is of a woman who would hide in London. The school now admits that this hairstyle does not violate any rule in their handbook, but says that they made a new rule this summer to prohibit it. I kid you not. They claim they made a rule in the summer of 2018 to prohibit THIS hairstyle. Contact this school @ 504-367-3601 Web: ctkparishschool.org"

The sad ordeal was captured on video by a family member.

The entire incident has the internet up in arms about the criminalization of Black children but, it's nothing new. Just five years ago a young girl in Orlando was banned from wearing her natural afro in school and was told not to attend until she "tamed" or straightened it and there have been numerous others. The fact that this has gone on for years doesn't make it right now.

The level of backlash that Christ the King Middle School is getting on Twitter is well deserved. Stating a child has broken a policy that never even existed is a disgrace.

As of this posting there has been no official apology to the student of her family. Folks gotta do better.
