Officer Charged with Criminal Homicide in Pittsburgh Teen's Death!

A Pittsburgh police officer is now on the other side of the law after he was caught on video shooting an unarmed young man. We reported just a week ago that 17-year-old Antwon Rose II was shot and killed as he ran from police during a traffic stop. The community at large has been in an uproar since the details of the murder came to light.

The officer involved, identified as Michael Rosfeld, had been on the East Pittsburgh police force for just three weeks and had only been sworn in 90 MINUTES before the shooting. It was suspected, partially die to Pennsylvania laws, that Rosfeld wouldn't face any charges. Well. . . he is!

Via KDKA:

"According to court records, a charge of criminal homicide has been filed against East Pittsburgh Police Officer Michael Rosfeld in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Antwon Rose Jr. on June 19.

According to attorney Pat Thomassey, Rosfeld turned himself in this morning and is out on $250,000 bond.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. where more details are expected to be released."

The citizens of East Pittsburgh have been holding almost daily vigils and protests demanding justice for Antwon. Friday night a group of protestors were nearly run down in the streets by an unidentified driver.

According to police one person was injured and they do have a possible suspect in the case.

Let's hope that these charges lead to a conviction and the city can be at rest again.
