Everybody Can't be Trusted! Another Boyfriend Kills His Girlfriend's Toddler. Claims He Fell!

“Ong baby it’s bad asf like I don’t even wanna show u.” was a text message a young mother received from her boyfriend while she was at work.

On July 6th Albert Lea, Minnesota police received two different emergency calls. One call was from a neighbor saying she heard extreme yelling at an apartment next door and another from a mother who reported her child was unresponsive.

When police arrived at the apartment they found a little boy, lifeless.

The 2-year-old boy's mother said that her boyfriend, 24-year-old Austin Navarro, had been caring for the boy and her 12-week-old infant while she was at work. Navarro sent her text messages saying that her son had fallen and was badly hurt. Then, an hour later, he sent her a photo of her bruised child with blood on his lips. The mother said she'd left work, rushed home and found that Navarro had rigged the door to the home with a knife so that it couldn't be opened. When she forced her way in she found Navarro in an upstairs bedroom holding her infant with her bloody toddler laying on the bed. It is unclear what happened after that but, shortly after is when the police received the call from the neighbor and then the child's mother.

Navarro fled the scene before police could arrive.

According to KARE11, Navarro was pursued by an officer and ultimately stopped within a mile of the residence, where he would tell officers he left the scene because he was scared.

The child was transported to an emergency room at a local hospital, where he died.

A detective photographed the child's body after he died and noted severe bruising throughout his body, according to the document.

An autopsy showed the child had “an abnormal amount of blood in the lower torso,” lacerations to his liver and pancreas, and subdural hemorrhaging on the side of his head. His death was determined to have been caused by multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.

Prosecutors have charged Navarro with second-degree murder and child endangerment. Navarro made his first court appearance Friday afternoon and had his bail set at $1 million without conditions or $500,000 with conditions. His next appearance is set for July 20.
