It's "Weekend at Bernie's" in Real Life! Two Old Ohio Women Arrested After They Took a Man's Dead Body to the Bank to Take His Money!

Two women from Ashtabula, Ohio are behind bars after authorities say they tried to play "Weekend at Bernie's" in real life!

Authorities claim Karen Casbohm, 63 (left), and Loreen Feral, 55 (right) were the roommates of 80-year-old Douglas Layman. According to reports on March 4, 2024 the women found Layman dead inside the home. Instead of calling for help, the women put Layman's body in the car and drove to the bank.

Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell says that the women propped the corpse up to appear as if he was alive inside the car. Stell says that the bank employees knew the women lived with Layman and that they'd allowed them to withdraw money on previous occasions as long as he was in their company. On the day of his death, the women withdrew $900 from his bank account and then dropped his body off at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. Hospital staff reported that the women left without providing any information on him until one of them called hours later.

Astabula police were sent to the residence the trio shared to interview Casbohm and Feral. After hearing their story, officers charged both Feralo and Casbohm with theft and gross abuse of a corpse. Both charges are felonies and could land them in prison for years.

According to court documents the women are not related to Layman. His cause of death has not yet been determined.

Chief Steff said other charges are under review.
