New Jersey Pimp and Madam Allegedly Kill an Employee to Collect Life Insurance Money.
The 2018 murder of a New Jersey woman has finally been solved, sort of.
According to PIX 11 back on April 9, 2018, Brandy Odom’s dismembered body was found in a wooded area in Canarsie Park, a few blocks from her relative’s apartment, authorities said.
A person out walking their dog that morning found more body parts that led police to search a nearby trash bin. A tattoo on the body's chest that said “Chocolate”, which was Odom's nickname, helped the authorities to identify her.
The coroner determined that Odom had died from asphyxiation and then, the case seemingly ran cold. . . until a life insurance company got a call from Odom's beneficiary.
Cory Martin, 33, and Adelle Anderson, 32, were accused of devising a plan to defraud the company that issued the insurance police.
Reports say that the two fraudulently misrepresented the relationship between Odom and Anderson. Claiming they were sisters, Anderson took out a policies on Odom, before she was murdered, and made herself the sole beneficiary. One insurance policy was for $50,000 from Globe Life Insurance Company and the other was from American National Insurance Company worth $150,000, according to the complaint.
Days before Odom's body was found Martin's online searches show that he was inquiring about purchasing saws.
A Valley Stream Home Depot also recorded the purchase of a Dewalt 12-Amp Corded Reciprocating Saw, five saw blades and black contractor bags. The transaction was conducted in cash.
That same day, a search on Youtube was conducted on Martin’s phone: “how to insert blade for reciprocating saw” and “using reciprocating saw.”
Following Odom’s death, several internet searches were conducted on Martin’s phone including terms such as “breaking news nyc today,” and accessed a story titled “Woman’s dismembered body found inside Canarsie Park.”
According to the detention memo, text messages on Martin’s phone reflected that Odom was engaged in commercial sex services for Martin.
Both Martin and Anderson were arrested in Trenton, New Jersey this past Wednesday and they are facing charges of conspiring to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
They have not officially be charged with Odom's murder.
