Father and His Girlfriend Arrested After His Missing Daughter is Found Dead.

We hate to see cases like these but, they are becoming all too common. A recent Amber Alert for a missing Kansas City toddler came to an end when her body was found in a wooded area. 3-year-old Olivia Jansen had been reported missing from her home early Friday morning.

Her father, Howard Jansen III, says that he woke up between 5:30 and 6:30am to find his daughter missing and the back door to his home ajar. A story very similar to every other parent-involved disappearance in the past but, instead of calling 911, Jansen walked to the police station to report his child missing. Arriving at around 8:30am.

The Kansas City police spent the entire day looking for Olivia and found her body in the area of 34th and Steele.

On Sunday, the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office announced that both her father and his girlfriend, Jacqulyn A. Kirkpatrick have been formally charged with murder in connection with her murder. Both are facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, and criminal desecration. The desecration charge stems from “unlawfully and knowingly obtain[ing] unauthorized control of a dead body.”

Olivia's biological mother is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.

It's absolutely disgusting that this child wasn't even safe with her own father. Our prayers are with her family and all of those who loved her.
