"Daddy, I'm Sorry" Last Words of 8-Year-Old to His Father in Botched Murder-Suicide.

Jean Pierre Ndossoka had been at odds with his wife, Sabine Ntongo, for months. The two had separated and were living apart. Ntongo had custody of the couples two children, an 8-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter.

Early Saturday Ntongo dropped the children off at their father's apartment for a regularly scheduled visitation with him. Ndossoka calledt Ntongo over and over while she was at work finally stating that he had "left a present" for her and to use his spare key, under the mat on the front steps, to get it.

What Ntongo found was a parent's worst nightmare.

"The woman rushed over to Ndossoka's place and let herself in. When she found her two kids on the bed with their throats slit, she called 911.

Responding officers found a bloody knife and a hand-written note in French near the bed, telling Ntongo she would "carry the burden" of her children's souls. Ndossoka wrote that he planned to die with the kids, records show.

But, in fact, he had already fled. Police put out a vehicle description and mounted a search.

Authorities eventually picked him up in Pasadena around 1 a.m.

Ndossoka was found with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

At first he said he didn't remember what happened, according to court records.

But under questioning at the hospital, he admitted he "did something bad" and claimed to have high blood pressure. First, he allegedly said he'd choked the children. Then he admitted to using a knife and leaving a note, according to court records.

Eventually, he told investigators his children's last words.

"Daddy, I'm sorry," the 8-year-old told his father, according to court records.

His 1-year-old sister just cried.

He was arrested and charged Sunday, and does not appear to have an assigned attorney yet."

This is probably the most sickening thing I've ever read. I understand that divorces and separations can be painful but this isn't bitterness, this is a sickness.

Ndossoka has been charged with two counts of capital murder and is now facing the death penalty.
