Ohio Father Claimed that His Autistic Stepson Shot and Killed His Daughter but the Evidence Lands Him in Jail.
An Ohio father is behind bars after he claims his autistic stepson shot and killed his daughter.
According to WDTN, police in Dayton were called to a home in the 400 block of Bowen Street where a disturbance had taken place on the afternoon of April 16. When they arrived, they found 15-year-old Kendra Farler dead and quickly discovered the explanation from her parents didn’t add up.
The girl's parents claimed that her brother used a shotgun to kill Kendra but, after a brief investigation of the scene, that story was proven to be false. The police then turned their attention to the girl's father and arrested him for the crime.
Kenneth Paul Farler, 38, is now in the Montgomery County Jail where he is being held indefinitely. Farler has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, child endangering and having weapons under disability. All charges have gun specifications attached to them.
Farler has previously been arrested on drug trafficking charges, and as a convicted felon, shouldn’t have had a gun.
“To say it was a tragedy is an understatement. I don’t know how I could paint the picture for you, but you have a father living in a boarding house which is very small, actually in a room, where this murder occurred, along with three other children and the mother,” said Major Brian Johns with the Dayton Police Department.
Johns says the incident will remain under investigation, but with evidence gathered so far, the shooting doesn’t appear to be accidental in nature.
There has been no motive made public for the shooting.
This story is still developing.
