Autopsy Reveals, Samuel Olson, Allegedly Killed by His Father's Girlfriend Died of Blunt Trauma.
More details have emerged in the case of Samuel Olson, a 5-year-old boy initially reported as missing but, later found dead in a hotel room. Olson was reported missing by his father, Dalton Olson, on May 27th after his father's girlfriend, Teresa Balboa, said that the boy's mother, along with police, forcibly removed him from her care.
Not much time passed before the child's mother, Sarah Olson, who has shared custody of him told authorities that Balboa's story was a lie. Sarah Olson said that she hadn't seen her son in a year because his father and Balboa were keeping him from her.
Samuel was found dead, stuffed inside of a duffle bag, in a hotel room in Jasper, Texas on June 1st. At the time, authorities were hesitant to release much information about the case but did issue a warrant for the arrest of Balboa.
Now, more details have come to light and it's every parents worst nightmare. According to an autopsy report, Samuel Olson died from "blunt head trauma" meaning, someone, presumably Balboa, struck him in the head or caused him to hit his head.
Balboa appeared in court for the first time on Monday where a judge added a $100,000 bond for the assault case. Her existing bond for a charge of tampering with evidence, in particular a human corpse, in connection with Samuel's death remains at $500,000, bringing her total bond to $600,000.
Prosecutors requested a higher bond saying Balboa was a flight risk.
At the time of Samuel's death, Balboa was on probation for a November 2020 assault against his father.
