Netflix Orders Up Animated Reboot of 70's Favorite "Good Times"!

Netflix has been lining up some DYNO-MITE! The streaming giant has nabbed an animated reboot of the family classic "Good Times". The reboot, set in modern times, is slated to still tackle the hard every day issues that were hot subjects back in the day.

"Good Times is Norman Lear’s first animated series, following the Evans family as they navigate today’s world and contemporary social issues. Just as the original did years ago, Good Times strives to remind us that with the love of our family, we can keep our heads above water."

According to Shadow and Act, the series producers include Lear and Brent Miller for Act III Productions, Curry, Erick Peyton and Jeron Smith for Unanimous and MacFarlane and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door.

“We can’t think of anything better, at this time in our culture, than a reimagining of Good Times animated. In a year filled with darkness, this is one bright light we won’t soon forget. Thank you, Sony. Thank you, Netflix. Bless us all," Lear and Miller.

Jones said,“It’s a dream come true to be working with the legendary talents of Norman Lear, Seth McFarlane and Stephen Curry. We are excited to carry on the original legacy of GOOD TIMES – but now animated and a little edgier. Let’s just say the struggle has just gotten strugglier.”

“We are so excited about this project! Unanimous is all about authentic partnerships and this team felt genuine from the beginning. Good Times strives to remind us that with the love of our family we can overcome any obstacle. We think, now more than ever, the world needs to see a show with hope and positivity," said Curry and Peyton."

If you remember when the show first aired, February 8, 1974, it was originally a spinoff of the show "Maude" which starred Bea Arthur. "Good Times" made history as the FIRST show to feature a Black family with a mother AND father actively working and raising their children together. This show set the blueprint for shows like "The Cosby Show", "A Different World" and "My Wife and Kids".

We can't wait to watch this series with our families! Will you be watching?
