Houston Woman Found Shot Dead in Her Apartment Laying Next to Her Daughter Who was "Fake Sleeping".


The body of a Houston, Texas woman was found in her apartment early Saturday morning after police responded to a call of gunfire in the area.


Officers arrived in the 4800 block of Jarmese Street near Calhoun Road at around 4 a.m.


HPD initially said two women were found dead at the scene, but then discovered the daughter was alive and had been pretending to sleep.


According to court documents, Brittany Brown, 33 (inaccurately reported as 34), fatally shot a woman who has been identified as Erika Hall. Detectives said Hall was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and her daughter, who is believed to be between 12 and 14 years old, was “fake sleeping” next to her and found by police some time later.


Authorities said Brown has had other run-ins with the law, including evading arrest, possession of drugs, and credit card fraud. She is expected to appear in court for the time Tuesday.


At this time, there is no reported motive for the homicide and authorities are not releasing any information on any known relationship between Brown and Hall or how they knew each other.
