A Detroit couple was arrested over the weekend after getting into a verbal altercation that escalated into something more. Police were called to a home on Margareta Street for a domestic disturbance that involved two dueling couples. According to witnesses, and video surveillance, the couples were yelling and screaming at each other when one man, got physically violent.
The dramatic footage shows a 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman screaming at someone in the doorway of the house — where a 23-year-old woman and her 31-year-old boyfriend were verbally duking it out with them, according to the Detroit News. During the verbal altercation one of the couples involved allegedly said that the other couple's baby was "ugly" and that was the last straw.
The 21-year-old man is then seeing returning to his car, slipping, then walking back to the home with a handgun. The man then fired at least 16 shots into the home knowing there were small children inside.
After the shots were fired, the man and woman fled in a white Pontiac, but police found the Pontiac and arrested the pair less than a mile south of the shooting scene, in the area of Sunderland and West Outer Drive.
Police recovered a weapon during the arrest. Both are jailed at Detroit Detention Center, pending possible criminal charges.
No one inside the home was injured during the shooting. There was a baby inside the car during the entire episode, but it wasn’t clear if that was the baby that was insulted.
There are seriously better things in life to argue about and the appearance of your offspring isn't one of them. There is no word on what became of the baby that was in the car when the adults were arrested. Hopefully it was placed with family members who have more sense.
