Couple Arrested for Murdering Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney to Face Federal Charges!
The couple charged with kidnapping and murdering a little girl last year will face federal charges according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama. Patrick Devone Stallworth, 40, and Derick Irisha Brown, 29, allegedly kidnapped 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney from a birthday party in broad daylight back in October 2019. The toddler was found dead in a dumpster 10 days later.
The details that emerged surrounding the kidnapping and murder of this child were absolutely horrible. From the sedatives that were found in her system to the details of sexual assault and her death, this case just kept getting worse and worse.
Brown and Stallworth were originally going to be tried together but have turned against each other. It was Brown who showed authorities where Kamille's body could be found but Stallworth says that he originally agreed to take the wrap for the case because of his love for Brown and he had nothing to do with the abduction or the murder.
That was proven to be untrue when other children who were outside that day said that Stallworth approached them with candy and tried to lure them to a van and Brown was with him.
Now, a new leg of the journey to justice starts. Stallworth and Brown have been indicted by a federal grand jury on kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap a minor victim.
“The kidnapping of a child is one of a parent’s biggest fears,” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Lloyd C. Peeples said. “Despite their best efforts, federal, state, and local law enforcement were not able to bring the 3-year-old victim home to her family. However, we hope that today’s charges will be a step towards bringing justice for her and her family.”
If it is proven that McKinney’s death resulted from the kidnapping charges from the federal indictment, Stallworth and Brown could face a minimum sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.
