Ex-Assistant Arrested for the Murder of Manhattan Tech Giant!

The former personal assistant of Manhattan tech guru Fahim Saleh has been arrested for his murder. Law enforcement sources tell News 4 their relationship turned bitter when Fahim Saleh learned 21-year-old Tyrese Haspil of Brooklyn was allegedly stealing from the company.

"Police were able to identify Haspil by anti-felon identification cards that were spewed like confetti in Saleh's apartment after Saleh was stunned with a Taser, the law enforcement sources said.

According to three officials briefed on the matter, Saleh had discovered that Haspil had stolen roughly $90,000 from him. Saleh fired Haspil without reporting the theft to the police and even drew up a repayment plan for Haspil.

Haspil was arrested outside of an apartment on Crosby Street in SoHo, surveillance video exclusively obtained by NBC New York showed, and he was led away in handcuffs without saying anything. Investigators also were combing through Haspil's home in Brooklyn. He was later charged with murder and was awaiting arraignment Friday night."

"A video shows the man the police believe to be Mr. Haspil following Mr. Saleh into his building and then into an elevator, where they appear to engage in small talk, the officials said.

The suspect was dressed in a black three-piece suit and wore a black mask and latex gloves, the officials said. He was carrying a duffel bag.

As the two men left the elevator, which opened directly into Mr. Saleh’s seventh-floor unit, the assailant fired a Taser into Mr. Saleh’s back, immobilizing him, at about 1:44 p.m. on Monday, according to a criminal complaint. He then stabbed Mr. Saleh to death, wounding him multiple times in his neck and torso.

The next morning, Mr. Haspil used a credit card to hire a car to go to a Home Depot, on West 23rd Street in Manhattan, and to buy an electric saw and cleaning supplies, the fourth official said. The criminal complaint said he was captured on video by a store camera buying the goods at 9:30 a.m.

Later that day, dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt, the assailant returned to Mr. Saleh’s apartment to dismember the body and clean up the crime scene."

Saleh was found dead by his sister who went to his apartment to check on him after he failed to answer her calls. When she arrived she found him beheaded and the apartment full of blood.

Officials say that Saleh had been beheaded and dismembered, with precision-like cuts, and that his extremities were in plastic bags that were probably going to be dumped elsewhere. They say that his sister came upon the crime as it was in progress and scared off the killer who snuck out of the back service entrance.

Haspil has been charged with murder.

This is so sad especially because Saleh was trying to be civil about a crime committed against HIM. We're thankful his family can have peace knowing his killer isn't still walking free.

We wish Breonna Taylor's family had the same peace.
