Man Survives Attempted Lynching in Bloomington, Indiana!

A Bloomington, Indiana man is thankful to be alive today after a near death experience over the weekend. Vauhxx Booker says that he spent the day of July 4th with his friends hiking and backpacking through the woods. At some point the group, Booker being the only Black person, came upon another group of men and women who were congregating on a beach at the edge of the woods.

He posted about the ordeal on social media saying, in part,

"On our way into the park we (a friend and I) encountered a large white male (seemingly drunk) wearing an oversized hat with a confederate flag print on it. We were polite and continued on even though the encounter felt awkward. We noticed he began following us in an ATV, and we stopped as he drove up behind us and then stated we were on private property. We relayed to him that we believed the organizers had received permission from the property owners to cross, but apologized and went on to our beautiful site just off the water without any further incident. When we arrived we told the event organizer of the encounter and it was relayed that the individual wasn’t the actual property owner and the organizer apologized."

Booker said that the group, who had blocked off the beach, were chanting "white power" and yelling racial slurs. He says that the group he was with wanted to talk peacefully with the group and things got heated.

"Several gentlemen ran up behind me" he says "dragged me to a tree and pinned me down". One man, identified only as Shawn, had Booker pinned to a tree and refused to let him go.

The incident was caught on camera by one of the people in Booker's group and, as you can see, it didn't look good.

Booker said that the men had been intoxicated and continued to follow him, yelling derogatory names at him, for at least two minutes after the assault. Booker did follow protocol and report the incident and, to add insult to injury, the authorities on the scene spoke to the attackers before they addressed him. Once they'd gotten the story from the assailants, they got his side and made an half @ssed attempt to see if he was injured.

To date, no one has been arrested. A statement from Bloomington officials stated “The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division can confirm our officers responded to this call for service. The incident is under investigation and the final report will be forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Officer upon completion."

This is absolutely horrible that in 2020 we STILL have to fight these battles. Booker said that was "diagnosed with a minor concussion, some abrasions, bruising, and some ripped out hair patches". He also said that he still has lingering pain in his head and neck when he moves.

This country is in need of an overhaul FAST.
