The Disney D23 Expo was last weekend and they unleashed a ton of promos for their upcoming films. Fans were surprised when the saw more diversity in the casting of the live action version of "Lady and the Tramp", which will feature actress Yvette Nicole Brown, and now the release of "Soul"!
According to Shadow and Act "in Soul, everyone has their soul trained before they become a person. It will revolve around a middle school band teacher who plays jazz on the side. He has never been able to get his big break at playing at the clubs that he wants to. [When he ... dies?] the musician's soul must find a way back."
"Soul" will feature the voices of acting greats such as Jamie Foxx, Questlove, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs, while Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste handle the film’s musical score.
Although this looks like a deeper, more adult take, on the 2015 Pixar film "Inside Out", where the main characters were the five emotions of a young girl, we know they're definitely going to switch it up and deliver another box office smash!
"Soul" is set to hit theaters June 19, 2020.
