Investigation into the Death of 7-Year-Old Jazmine Barnes Takes an Unusual Turn. Suspects Arrested.

The state of Texas has been holding it's breath for days while trying to figure out who killed 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes as she rode in a car with her mother and sisters. The young girl and her family were driving, around 6:50am last Sunday, when they were fired on by someone in a passing vehicle. Jazmine's mother, LaPorsha Washington, screamed for all of her children to "get down".

Once the horrible attack was over, Washington discovered she had been shot but, one of her other daughters said that Jazmine wasn't moving.

Little Jazmine Barnes had been shot in the head.

The authorities were desperately trying to piece together clues in their investigation. Who could have done such a horrible thing to a little girl? Jazmine's older sister provided the police with the little details that she had that enabled them to complete a composite sketch of what the shooter might look like. The only description that she had was "a white man, in his 30s or 40s, with blue eyes wearing a hoodie".

Now, we're told that, this ISN'T who they have in custody for this crime at all.

Via ABC13:

A man is charged with capital murder in the deadly shooting of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes, and a second suspect has been taken into custody. Investigators say a tip led to the arrest of Eric Black Jr., 20. An investigation revealed evidence that corroborated the tip, authorities say, and Black was taken into custody in east Harris County without incident. Black reportedly admitted to taking part in the shooting.

Larry Woodruffe, 24, has been arrested as a second suspect in the case. Those sources say Woodruffe is believed to be the shooter. There has been no photo released of Woodruffe at this time but, we're told he looks nothing like the composite sketch either.

At this time, investigators do not believe Jazmine's family was the intended target of the shooting, and that they were possibly shot as a result of mistaken identity.

Now, let's get to how this story got turned around and pointed in the direction of the white man in the red truck.

And this is how everyone who witnessed the incident got the story mixed up. Someone speeding off from a crime scene was mistakenly identified as the shooter. We don't know about you but we wouldn't calmly drive off from a shooting either, especially when we don't know if someone is shooting at us or someone else.

The funeral and balloon release in remembrance of Jazmine's life is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Green House International Church on 200 West Greens Road, Houston, TX 77067. The viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday and the funeral service at 12 p.m.

Jazmine's death has gripped the entire country with everyone from actors to athletes pledging support to Jazmine's legacy and her family. Hopefully, they'll get to the bottom of this and those responsible will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

No child, no matter who they are or where they life, deserves to die like this.

We'll have more on this story as information and updates become available.
