Daycare Employees Give Toddlers Spiked Gummies to Make them Nap!
Three Illinois Daycare workers are in BIG TROUBLE after authorities were alerted to the fact that they ALLEGEDLY were giving toddlers spiked tummies in order to make them nap.
Via USA Today:
"Kristen Lauletta, 32, Jessica Heyse, 19, and Ashley Helfenbein, 25, were arrested and each face two counts of child endangerment and two counts of battery, CBS Chicago reported.
Police were called to the Kiddie Junction Daycare Center in Des Plaines, Ill., on Friday afternoon after a manager reported that one of the teachers distributed gummy bears laced with melatonin to a class of 2-year-olds. The three women told police they didn't see anything wrong with giving the toddlers the melatonin-laced gummy bears because melatonin is an over-the-counter sleep aid.
This is just a horrible case of bad judgement,” Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner told CBS Chicago."
No parents were asked for their permission to give their children the sleeping aid and no representative of the childcare facility would comment on the matter. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is also investigating the matter and could pose more legal trouble for the women accused.
Whatever happened to taking the kids out to play in order to get them tired?
